Enduring - GCSOM has developed a novel clinical assessment tool for monitoring performance of students during the M3/Phase 2 (clerkship) and M4/Phase 2 portions of their curriculum. The tools inform student feedback and grades, affect student reflection and progress, and are critical to student development. As the tool is novel, faculty must be trained on the tool, and reminded or familiarized with the foundations of the clinical assessment of students. Further, faculty use of the tool must be standardized and recorded in order for accreditation with the LCME.

This is an in-person educational activity. In order to provide a robust call schedule of Sexual Assault Forensic Examiners (SAFEs), Geisinger offers training for nurses and providers to provide forensic examination services to patients who present to Geisinger Emergency Departments (EDs) who have been sexually assaulted or a victim of physical violence. Goal is to have 24/7 coverage, 365 days per year to ease the burden on ED nurses as these forensic exams take multiple hours to perform, reducing coverage on the floor to care for other patients.

This is an in-person educational activity. A survey of Geisinger residents and fellows show, learners are all too frequently the targets of biased behaviors on the part of patients and their loved ones, as well as on the part of their colleagues on health care teams. This workshop reflects an effort and desire to help learners more effectively navigate these difficult, potentially harmful situations by empowering them with knowledge and skill. However, this workshop is not just an intervention, conceived as a solution to this recurrent, widespread problem.
