GCSOM M3 Assessment Tool

Enduring - GCSOM has developed a novel clinical assessment tool for monitoring performance of students during the M3/Phase 2 (clerkship) and M4/Phase 2 portions of their curriculum. The tools inform student feedback and grades, affect student reflection and progress, and are critical to student development. As the tool is novel, faculty must be trained on the tool, and reminded or familiarized with the foundations of the clinical assessment of students. Further, faculty use of the tool must be standardized and recorded in order for accreditation with the LCME.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for faculty at GCSOM, including all versions of preceptors, from residents, through advanced practice providers, and including all physician faculty.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  1. implement the use of the M3 assessment tool on student behaviors in a simulated clinical encounter
  1. correlate the correct assessment of student behaviors with the assessment tool rubric
  1. validate and critique the tool through a real time feedback process
