The S.T.A.B.L.E. Program - October 16, 2023

The S.T.A.B.L.E. Program provides information for every nurse, paramedic, physician, and ancillary staff to be able to make appropriate and timely decisions, about the care of a sick or premature infant before transport.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for perinatal physicians, pediatric physicians, emergency physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists and for EMS pre-hospital providers.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:

  • identify infants at risk for hypoglycemia; monitor for signs of, treatment for, and post-treatment reassessment for hyperglycemia
  • identify physiologic responses to hypothermia for term and preterm infants
  • explain physical examination to evaluate for shock
  • state risk factors that predispose an infant to infection and the clinical sign of sepsis
  • identify ways health care providers can support parents of sick infants
