Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this session, the participant should be able to:
- identify barriers physicians face in discussing end-of-life conversations and implement strategies to overcome them
- review ethical and legal considerations in end-of-life care, including advanced care directives and palliative sedation
- discuss Pennsylvania law regarding decision-making for incapacitated patients
- recognize the importance of physician self-care in end-of-life scenarios and develop strategies to manage emotions, prevent burnout, and maintain resilience when caring for dying patients
