Learning Objectives: 

At the conclusion of this session, the participant should be able to: 

  • Review how lipids are impacted during normal hormonal changes throughout a woman's life cycle- during adolescence, pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, pre/post menopause, and at older ages. 
  • Identify the need for sex-specific guidelines for evaluation and management of blood lipids across a woman's lifespan for Cardiovascular disease prevention. 
  • Highlight the treatment along with the biases that exist when treating dyslipidemia in women and the call for action for providers to ensure appropriate and aggressive therapies are made available to female patients.
