This is an in-person educational activity. The Cultivating Competencies through Coaching Workshop is a dynamic and interactive full-day workshop designed to build a strong foundation in effective coaching skills essential for supporting learner development and performance improvement in medical education. This immersive experience is tailored for individuals who are new to coaching as well as those looking to refine their skills. Throughout the day, participants will explore essential coaching principles and techniques through a blend of theoretical insights, and hands-on exercises. Participants will gain practical tools to support growth and development in others and learn how to apply coaching strategies in real-world scenarios.
Target Audience
This activity is designed for Physicians, Pharmacists, Program Directors, Associate Program Directors, Clinical Competency Committee Chair, or core faculty involved in remediation efforts within your training program. Other learner groups such as faculty who is new to coaching or those who are looking to refine their skills would also benefit from this education.
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
describe the role and impact of coaching in medical education and differentiate it from mentoring and advising.
apply key learning concepts such as Informed Self-Assessment, Growth Mindset, and the Master Adaptive Learner framework in their practice.
implement practical frameworks for effective coaching conversations using various coaching models and tools.
develop techniques to recognize areas for improvement and make timely advancement decisions to address learning gaps
integrate coaching methods to support educational outcomes in alignment with Competency Based Medical Education.
employ structured, compassionate approaches to help learners overcome challenges and support performance improvement and remediation.

Attendance will be recorded within three to four days of the conclusion of the activity. Credit will display on your continuing education transcript once the activity evaluation is completed.
