First Annual Clinical Quality Symposium
This is an in-person educational activity. The symposium will cover quality, safety, and patient experience and how it effects our staff and patients. It will prepare staff with knowledge and best practices in patient safety, infection control, regulatory updates and the patient experience through panel discussions, interactive workshops, poster sessions and expert speakers. Highlighted discussions for this symposium will include mock legal deposition, candor process, voice of the patient, risk event reporting, patient room of horrors where participants can walk through an interactive session on identifying safety concerns. Other TED talks planned with panel discussions on regulatory functions, ProvenCare model, medication safety and diagnostic safety. The symposium will also feature quality poster sessions by residents, medical and nursing students.
Target Audience
This activity is designed for physicians from all disciplines, nurses, pharmacist, social workers and physician assistants. Other learner groups such as medical students, nursing students, residents, and fellows would also benefit from this education.
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
- discuss patient safety event reporting
- develop working knowledge principles and importance of the Candor process
- develop understanding of Regulatory Agencies and Functions
- discuss patient and family perception of patient safety events
- identify patient safety risks within the healthcare setting (Room of Horrors)

Schedule
All visitors to the Geisinger campus, please park in the patient parking lot. A shuttle bus will take you to the Henry Hood Center for Health Research, please notify the driver when boarding the bus of your final destination.
Travel
Henry Hood Center for Health Research is located on the Geisinger Campus in Danville, Pennsylvania (Montour County), Exit 224 on Interstate 80. Routes 11 and 54 also intersect in Danville.
