At the conclusion of this session, the participant should be able to: 

  • Review the historical evolution of heart failure and discuss the current epidemiology, disease burden, and readmission rates.
  • Define heart failure and describe its underlying pathophysiology, including the neurohormonal mechanisms that drive disease progression.
  • Recognize the clinical presentation of heart failure and apply an evidence-based diagnostic approach, including the role of biomarkers and cardiac imaging.
  • Differentiate the major classifications of heart failure based on ejection fraction, symptom severity, and staging, and understand their clinical implications.
  • Summarize contemporary guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) and management strategies across the spectrum of heart failure.
  • Discuss the indications for device-based therapies and review emerging advancements that are shaping the future of heart failure management.
