This is an in-person educational activity. This session is designed to enhance learners' knowledge and technical proficiency in POCUS and bedside echocardiography. Participants will benefit from focused didactic instruction and hands-on scanning practice using live models.
 
IMPORTANT

Please Note: This course includes two parts. Before attending the live skills session that you are registering for on Geisinger's site, you are required to complete the online ultrasound course offered by the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM).

The course is listed as "Ultrasound – Adult: Critical Care Ultrasound Adult Geisinger" on the SCCM website. Once registered for skill station portion, please contact Patricia Strzelecki at [email protected] to get access to the online prework for this course.

Please ensure that all lecture modules are completed prior to the start of the live session. These modules are available on demand through the MySCCM website, where you will also find the pretest.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and nurses.  Other learner groups such as respiratory therapists would also benefit from this education. 

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:

  • analyze the need for critical care ultrasound
  • operate bedside ultrasound equipment and apply techniques learned in the course
  • analyze the hemodynamic status of the patient and respond appropriately

Course Cancellation Policy
In the unusual circumstance that this course is cancelled, you will be called and/or emailed, and any tuition fees received would be refunded in full.  Geisinger is not responsible for any airfare, hotel or other costs incurred.
 
Attendance
Attendance will be recorded within three to four days of the conclusion of the activity.  Credit will display on your continuing education transcript once the activity evaluation is completed.
