Program Description
This is a live Educational Activity.
Trauma Nuts and Bolts provides fundamental understanding of mechanisms of injury, considers care of injured patients, and identifies nursing assessment, planning, interventions, and evaluation of care.
Target Audience
This activity is designed for is designed to present the current evidenced based proven interventions for traumatically injured patients from a registered nurse perspective and scope of practice. Other learner groups such as Patient Care Technicians, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Certified Nurse’s Aides would also benefit from this education.
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
- discuss the mechanism of injury in the following area chest and abdomen.
- identify nursing interventions to assist the healing process of trauma patients.
- describe the care of special trauma patients with chest injuries.
- apply immobilization collar to patient with suspected c-spine injury.
