SCCM ICU Liberation Course - January 12-13, 2026
Target Audience
This activity is designed for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and respiratory therapists. Other learner groups such as fellows, residents, medical students, physical and occupational therapists and psychologists would also benefit from this education.
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
- describe the evidence supporting the ICU liberation (ABCDEF) bundle and its impact on patient outcomes, including reductions in delirium, ventilator days, and ICU length of stay
- apply validated tools and protocols for delirium assessment, sedation minimization, early mobility and family engagement in daily ICU practice
- demonstrate competence in coordinating interdisciplinary implementation of spontaneous awakening and breathing trials as part of the ICU liberation bundle.
- evaluate and integrate effective implementation strategies to overcome local barriers and achieve consistent, sustainable application of the bundle in their own ICU setting
