Residents as Clinician Educators (RACE) provides a valuable opportunity for residents and fellows to enhance their knowledge and skills in teaching. Individuals that participate will be given resources to add to their educator tool-kit. The content not only includes the application of clinical teaching principles and active learning strategies, but also emphasizes the importance of small group teaching and providing effective feedback to promote learning.
Target Audience
The target audience for the RACE Workshop is Residents and Fellows.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Recognize barriers to effective teaching in the clinical environment.
- Develop strategies and tools to teach effectively with limited time.
- Choose an appropriate small group type and technique for their own educational objectives.
- Adequately plan a small group learning session.
- Conduct a small group learning session.
- Incorporate active learning strategies into their teaching.
- Describe the ARTful feedback framework and apply those concepts.
