Obesity and Nutrition Summit

This is an in-person educational activity. This conference provides a unique platform for attendees to learn and exchange the latest findings and best practices in nutrition and obesity and gain insights into emerging trends and evidence-based strategies that can enhance community health initiatives to combat obesity and malnutrition. Such conference raises awareness about the importance of nutrition, encouraging stakeholders to implement effective policies and programs aimed at improving dietary habits across diverse populations and ultimately this collective knowledge contributes to the development of sustainable strategies that can positively impact public health on a broader scale.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, social workers, psychologists, behavioral health providers, and dietitians. Other learner groups such as publich health professions, policy makers, educators, and students would also benefit from this education. 

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:

  • discuss recent advances in bariatric surgery and procedures and to differentiate the indications and contraindications of each procedure
  • use GLP-1 RA treatments appropriately and to optimize treatment plan for the patients with obesity to lose weight and maintain the weight loss and to be able to minimize possible complications/side effects
  • recognize the mechanism and symptoms of GI motility disorders secondary to bariatric surgery
  • describe the high prevalence of food insecurity and nutritional deficiencies in patients with obesity
  • recognize the indications and contraindications of different types of enteral nutrition and to be able to diagnose complications and side effects

Attendance will be recorded within three to four days of the conclusion of the activity.  Credit will display on your continuing education transcript once the activity evaluation is completed.
