Minding Our Learners: Helping Them from the Inside Out

Enduring - This is a virtual, asynchronous educational session that is part of the Center for Faculty and Professional Development’s Foundations in Medical Education series.

Foundations in Medical Education offers participants an opportunity to attend a live, virtual one-hour session that focuses on one of following four foundational topics in medical education: learning theory, clinical teaching, classroom teaching, and assessment and evaluation.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for residents and fellows PDs, APDs, faculty and coordinators, medical students, clerkship directors and coordinators, clinical staff, advanced practitioners, CE activity directors, faculty and organizers.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:

  • discuss the concept of mindfulness.
  • explain the principles of a growth mindset and how it can enhance learning and performance.

    Dr. Augustine received her bachelors of science in Chemistry and Biology in 2013 from Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA. Next, she earned her doctorate of pharmacy degree from Marshall University in Huntington, WV in 2017. She accepted a position as a clinical pharmacist with Geisinger after graduation. She is a member of the Pharmacy Action Team and serves as a preceptor for PGY1 residents in staffing, internal medicine and nephrology. Her professional interests include staffing, nephrology, internal medicine, IV/OR, and technician wellbeing.​
