Lose the Labels, Reject the Reels: Optimizing Learning from Preceptor Archetypes
Enduring - This is a virtual, asynchronous educational session that is part of the Center for Faculty and Professional Development’s Foundations in Medical Education series.
Foundations in Medical Education offers participants an opportunity to attend a live, virtual one-hour session that focuses on one of following four foundational topics in medical education: learning theory, clinical teaching, classroom teaching, and assessment and evaluation.
Target Audience
This activity is designed for residents and fellows PDs, APDs, faculty and coordinators, medical students, clerkship directors and coordinators, clinical staff, advanced practitioners, CE activity directors, faculty and organizers.
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
- Examine the influence of explicit and implicit biases on learner and preceptor success.
- Analyze strategies to overcome challenges associated with preceptor and learner archetypes.
- Identify personal and organizational practices to support preceptor and learner growth.
