Fundamentals of Critical Care Support Provider Course - October 22 and 23, 2024

This is a live educational activity. Fundamentals of Critical Care addressed the early recognition and care of the critically ill patient including vent management to physicians at all levels, medical students, nurses, physician extenders, and ancillary personnel who could encounter these patients many different settings. It addresses shock, respiratory failure, infection, neurological emergencies, and other broad-based situations that other courses such as ACLs, PALS, and ATLS do not address. Addresses special population such as Pediatrics, Obstetrics, and Post op patients. 

Target Audience

This activity is designed for all healthcare providers who participate in patient care at all levels where there is a possibility of patient's clinical status worsening acutely of presenting with serious illness, such as physicians, nurses, advanced practitioners, respiratory therapists and pharmacists. Other learner groups such as paramedics and prehospital responders would also benefit from this education. 

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to: 

  • recognize early signs and symptoms of critical illness
  • discuss indications and techniques for noninvasive positive pressure ventilation (NPPV)
  • summarize principles of shock management
  • review the clinical and diagnostic assessment of a brain injured patient
  • identify patients with Acute Coronary Syndromes (ACS)
