Fundamentals of Critical Care Support - Pediatrics, September 6 & 7, 2023

The Fundamentals Critical Care Support (FCCS) course provides healthcare professionals, including non-intensivists, with the training to manage critically ill patients for the first 24 hours or until appropriate critical care consultation can be arranged. The FCCS course concentrates on adult critical care but there are specialty courses which focus on critical care for pregnancy, surgery and pediatrics.
 

Target Audience

This activity is designed for all healthcare providers who participate in patient care at all levels where there is a possibility of patients’ clinical status worsening acutely. 

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:

  • review guidelines for initial ventilator management as they apply to specific clinical situations
  • review anatomic and physiologic differences between pediatric and adult patients
  • identify patients who have acute coronary syndromes
  • discuss indications and techniques for noninvasive positive pressure ventilation (NPPV)
  • describe the normal physiology of the intracranial vault and cerebral bloom    flow
  • review the clinical and diagnostic  assessment of a brain injury patient
  • describe risk factors unique to the immunosuppressed pediatric patient
  • recognize early signs and symptoms of critical illness

    The Henry Hood Center for Health Research is located on the Geisinger Campus in Danville, Pennsylvania (Montour County), Exit 224 on Interstate 80. Routes 11 and 54 also intersect in Danville.
