Fundamentals of Critical Care Medicine Provider Course - March 17 and 18, 2025

This is an in-person educational activity. The Fundamentals of Critical Care Support (FCCS) course provides healthcare professionals, including providers, pharmacists, nurses, and respiratory therapists with the training to manage critically ill patients for the first 24 hours or until appropriate critical care consultation can be arranged. The course concentrates on adult care but also includes separate sections with an overview on critical care for pregnancy and pediatrics.

 

Target Audience

This activity is designed for all healthcare providers who participated in patient care at all levels where there is a possibility of patient’s clinical status worsening acutely of presenting with serious illness.  Other learner groups such as paramedics and or prehospital responders would also benefit from this education. 

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:

  • recognize early signs and symptoms of critical illness
  • discuss indications and techniques for noninvasive positive pressure ventilation (NPPV)
  • summarize principles of shock management
  • review the clinical and diagnostic assessment of a brain injured patient
  • identify patients with Acute coronary Syndromes (ACS)
