Familial Hypercholesterolemia Screening, Diagnosis, and Evaluation

Clinicians will learn about criteria to diagnose FH and the new tools that are available to them. Early diagnosis and treatment of FH can reduce early cardiovascular events from 20% to 1%.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for Physicians, Advanced Practitioners, Nurses and Pharmacists in Internal Medicine, Family Practice, and Community Medicine fields.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:

  • define indications for FH screening
  • triage patients to lipid specialists appropriately
  • order genetic testing for FH when indicated
  • apply electronic health record resources effectively to facilitate aspects of FH care and management
