Dr. Parenti Lectureship - Limb Salvage Conference

This is a hybrid educational activity. This educational event intends to update attendees on new limb salvage strategies within the MSKI community. With an emphasis on a team-based approach, it will synergize technology and advanced surgical techniques in upper extremity reconstruction, with a special emphasis on wartime injuries. Continuing education on extremity salvage is paramount to achieving patient-centric outcomes in recovery following catastrophic injuries and restoring function. 

Target Audience

This activity is designed for MSKI faculty and staff including resident physicians (podiatric, orthopedic, PM&R, sports medicine, etc.), medical students, fellows and advanced practitioners.  

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:

  • discuss the epidemiology of upper extremity trauma
  • identify key clinical findings to determine salvageability of the upper extremity
  • articulate functional outcomes of upper extremity amputations
  • correlate experience in wartime upper extremity injuries to civilian trauma
  • enhance procedural skill set in upper extremity trauma within a team-based approach
