Developing Faculty Competencies in Assessment
The course is designed to help participants build effective assessment programs for their residency or fellowship. Sessions are highly interactive and use multiple learning approaches, including virtual simulations, to provide participants with approaches and tools for effective assessment. The course also provides a roadmap for developing a system of assessment to assist participants in implementing changes within their own institution.
Target Audience
This activity is designed for all specialties, allopathic and osteopathic physicians, and pharmacists who serve as faculty members in residency training programs.
Other learner groups such as nursing faculty would also benefit from this education.
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
- define work-based assessment
- identify characteristics of effective feedback
- provide feedback to a learner using multiple frameworks
- identify strategies for how to provide feedback in challenging situations
- design and implement an effective Clinical Competency Committee
