Clinical Faculty and Preceptors (CFPA) 201 Advanced Practice Professionals
Enduring - This is a virtual, asynchronous educational activity.
CFPA 201 is a 4 module self-paced, online, asynchronous learning program that introduces learners to evidence-based approaches to clinical teaching for APP students, feedback strategies to enhance performance, evidence-based assessment and evaluation techniques for APP learners, and how to provide a psychologically safe learning environment to students. The course generally requires 6 hrs. to complete with 1-2 hrs. to complete the final assessment activity. Course enrollment is set for 90 days with the option for extension by request. The final summative assessment activity will be reviewed by the Geisinger School of Nursing faculty and upon completion of the course, 6 continuing education credits can be claimed. In partnership with PA Action Coalition, Geisinger is enhancing nursing education to address nursing faculty and instructor shortages with the development of the CFPA.
This collaboration allows for academy development with funds awarded by the U.S Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), CDFA#93.359. The CFPA will help us recruit and retain experienced nurses to train the nurses of tomorrow.

Target Audience
This activity is designed for certified nurse mid-wives, certified registered nurse practitioners, and other advanced practice providers.
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
1. Implement evidence-based instructional approaches to foster diagnostic reasoning and clinical judgment capabilities.
2. Formulate feedback to learners in a direct, supportive manner.
3. Apply techniques to effectively guide learners during difficult, stressful and/or emotionally charged clinical scenarios.
4. Evaluate student performance effectively using evidence-based assessment and evaluation techniques and tools to drive continuous improvement.
5. Communicate assessments and evaluation to learners clearly and efficiently.
6. Employ effective clinical site evaluation processes to maximize clinical learning opportunities.
