This is an in-person educational activity. There has been a growing demand and use of injectable weight loss medications. However, there is a gap in choosing the right medication and long-term monitoring while being on these medications. There is a lack of knowledge and competencies in providing care (especially cancer screenings, STD screenings, etc.) to gender-diverse patients and patients with eating disorders.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for community medicine physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses and clinical pharmacists. Other learner groups such as medical students would also benefit from this education.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:  

  • discuss comprehensive care to our gender-diverse patients
  • incorporate CGM and insulin pump in managing diabetes mellitus
  • initiate medication for weight loss and long-term monitoring
  • describe cardiac arrythmias and breast conditions in primary care
  • screen and manage eating disorder in primary care

Attendance
Attendance will be recorded within three to four days of the conclusion of the activity. Credit will display on your continuing education transcript once the activity evaluation is completed.
