30th Annual Update in Pediatrics

This is an in-person educational activity. This program is designed for physicians, advanced practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, and staff who care for pediatric patients.  By attending, participants will learn updates on diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of illnesses in pediatric patients.  Being the 30th annual Update in Pediatrics, this year we are focused on speakers trained at Geisinger within the last 30 years of Janet Weis Children’s Hospital.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, and Pharmacists. Other learner groups such as anyone who cares for or works with pediatric patients would also benefit from this education. 

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:

  • describe asthma classifications and prescribe treatments, demonstrating respiratory therapies
  • discuss nirsevimab to parents whose children qualify to receive this immunization OR prescribe appropriate antibiotics for the disease process of a patient tailored to the infectious agent
  • describe technology use in diagnosis and treatment through exposure to hands on workshops
  • diagnose concussion and manage treatment through initial steps recognizing what higher-level care would include

Attendance
Attendance will be recorded within three to four days of the conclusion of the activity.  Credit will display on your continuing education transcript once the activity evaluation is completed.
