16th Annual Current Concepts in Medication Safety

This is an in-person educational activity. The target audience play a critical role in delivering patient care within the medication-use system. Because each individual has the potential to contribute to medication errors, it is essential to review current practices that reduce risk and explore new strategies for prevention. This program will discuss evidence-based approaches to minimizing medication errors. By improving understanding and implementation of these strategies, participants will enhance patient safety and ultimately improve clinical outcomes.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for physicians, nurses, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and respiratory therapists.  Other learner groups such as any individual working in the healthcare field clinical and non-clinical, inpatient, and ambulatory has the opportunity to enhance their knowledge in the area of medication safety would also benefit from this education. 

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:

  • identify the scope, complexity, and implications of medication errors that can extend well beyond our interaction with the patient
  • discuss current concepts and evidence-based practices that exist to assist in providing error-free care to our patients
  • examine the human factors, organizational culture and the accountability needed to prevent medication errors

    Travel

    To find Mohegan Sun Pocono from Danville, take Interstate 80 East toward I-81. Merge onto I-81 North towards Wilkes-Barre. Take Exit 170B to enter PA-309 North (Cross Valley Expressway). At Exit 1, turn left onto PA-315 North. Continue about 1 - 1.5 miles, the destination will be on your left. 

    To find Mohegan Sun Pocono from Philadelphia and Allentown, take Interstate 476 (Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike) to Exit 105. Turn left onto PA-115 N (Bear Creek Blvd.). Go approximately 5 miles. PA-115 N becomes PA-309 N. Take Exit 1 from PA 309 N. At traffic light, turn left onto PA-315. Mohegan Sun Pocono is 1.5 miles on the left.
