15th Annual Current Concepts in Medication Safety

This is an in-person educational activity. Each member of the target audience is responsible for delivering patient care within the medication-use system. They all have the potential to make a medication error and would benefit from reviewing existing practices that minimize the likelihood of medical errors or learning new risk reduction behaviors. Strategies to prevent medication errors will be discussed, an improved understanding of these strategies as well as their implementation will improve patient safety and therefore outcomes.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for healthcare professionals including Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurses, Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Respiratory Therapists. Other learner groups such as any person working in the healthcare field, clinical and non-clinical, inpatient, and ambulatory, has the opportunity to enhance their knowledge in the area of medication safety, and would also benefit from this education. 

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:

  • identify the scope, complexity, and implications of medication errors that can extend well beyond our interaction with the patient
  • discuss current concepts and evidence-based practices that exist to assist in providing error-free care to our patients
  • examine the human factors, organizational culture and the accountability needed to prevent medication errors

Attendance
Attendance will be recorded within three to four days of the conclusion of the activity.  Credit will display on your continuing education transcript once the activity evaluation is completed.

    To find Mohegan Sun Pocono from Philadelphia and Allentown, take Interstate 476 (Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike) to Exit 105. Turn left onto PA-115 N (Bear Creek Blvd.).
