Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this session, the participant should be able to:
- To describe an alternative to the institutional view of methadone maintenance treatment as a treatment for addiction.
- To use qualitative and quantitative evidence to show a misalignment between how MMT is delivered and the treatment needs and goals of many patients.
- To outline potential strategies for improving MMT and to illustrate how such changes could impact harms associated with drug use, particularly overdose.
