Series Overview
The goal is to improve standards of care and promote optimal outcomes. This meeting forum also allows the Trauma program to recognize areas of care that need to be improved upon, as well as, helping the program to apply the latest evidence-based guidelines for optimal outcomes. Each case that is sent to Peer Review has gone through the 1st and 2nd level of performance review and has been identified for peer review due to a gap in clinical care. Each gap is different. The issues are analyzed and discussed by the multidisciplinary group that includes liaisons from Surgery, Trauma, Radiology, Emergency medicine, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery and Anesthesia. A resolution step if identified and changes are made to prevent incident from reoccurrence. Please refer to PTSF Trauma Standards for PI/ Peer Review – Standard 6 Performance Improvement and Patient Safety.
