At the conclusion of this session, the participant should be able to: 

  1. Review definition of SUID and recent trends in epidemiology.
  2. Identify disparities in rates of SUID in racial and ethnic groups.
  3. Report data for Pennsylvania rates of SUID stratified by race.
  4. Evaluate possible causes and contributors for disparities in rates of SUID across different populations. 
  5. Inventory current practices at Geisinger regarding SIDS/SUID education. 
  6. Reflect on methods of improving cultural competency in SUID education and prevention strategies.
