At the conclusion of this session, the participant should be able to:
- review the microbiology and virulence factors of Group A streptococcus.
- summarize the burden of GAS infection in the US and worldwide.
- compare the trends in GAS disease before, during, and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
- describe the epidemiology, diagnosis, and current recommendations for treatment of GAS pharyngitis.
- develop strategies to trouble shoot and treat recurrent GAS pharyngitis.
- review strategies to prevent GAS infection, including the development of GAS specific vaccinations.
