Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this session, the participant should be able to:
Compare neuraxial and general anesthesia techniques by evaluating safety profiles, patient outcomes, and contraindications
Identify and evaluate key risk factors and considerations for preoperative optimization in special populations (e.g., elderly, pediatric, pregnant, or patients with comorbidities)
Identify and evaluate common anesthesia-related emergencies during cesarean section procedures, including airway complications, hypotension, and high spinal block
Assess the role of interdisciplinary communication among nursing staff, surgical providers, and anesthesia teams during urgent cesarean sections
Assess post-operative recovery and pain management strategies following surgical procedures, with a focus on multimodal analgesia, patient-specific factors, and discharge planning
