At the conclusion of this session, the participant should be able to: 

  • Describe difference between phytocannabinoids and endocannabinoids

  • Describe potential role of endocannabinoids in human milk

  • Describe factors that may influence the level of endocannabinoids in human milk

  • To understand factors associated with frequent cannabis use in breastfeeding mothers

  • To describe the transfer of Δ9-THC and its metabolites into human milk at 20 min, 1, 2 and 4 hours after maternal inhalation of 0.1 g cannabis containing 23.18% of Δ9-THC

  • To discuss ethical issues regarding cannabis and breastfeeding
