Learning Objectives: 

At the conclusion of this session, the participant should be able to: 

1. Review the major milestones in stroke care, from supportive treatment and alteplase to the 2015 thrombectomy revolution.
2. Explain why mechanical thrombectomy transformed acute stroke treatment, and why newer thrombolytics such as tenecteplase improve but do not replace it.
3. Highlight the next frontier of stroke care, combining precision thrombolysis, better reperfusion strategies, and recovery-focused innovation.
4. Determine the differences between the thrombolytics alteplase (TPA) and tenecteplase (TNK) in acute ischemic stroke.
5. Discuss the trial data that supported U.S. stroke systems’ decision to consider switching from TPA to TNK.
6. Identify the real-world data of TPA vs TNK in large vessel occlusion stroke.
