Fundamental Crisis Management

This is an in-person educational activity. Fundamental Critical Care Support (FCCS) Crisis Management (formerly Fundamental Disaster Management) focuses on core principles of disaster planning and addresses the employment of sound crisis management principles by hospitals and health systems to sustain their ability to provide patient care.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for all healthcare providers who participate in patient care at all levels where there is a possibility of patient's clinical status worsening acutely of presenting with serious illness. Other learner groups such as paramedics and prehospital responders would also benefit from this education. 

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:

  • describe the categories of disasters that may result in the need for expanded critical care services
  • explain how the ICU fits into a disaster management plan
  • identify the three components of surge capacity (The 3S’s space, staff, and stuff/supplies)
  • review development of a triage protocol
  • recognize the specific role PPE plays in staff protection and understand its proper use

Attendance
Attendance will be recorded within three to four days of the conclusion of the activity.  Credit will display on your continuing education transcript once the activity evaluation is completed.
