NEPA Trans Health Annual Conference
Target Audience
This activity is designed for physicians, nurses and social workers. Other learner groups such as medical students, licensed counselors, psychologists, dietitians and other health professional students, educators, healthcare staff-front office people, schedulers, individuals identified with the transgender community and community allies for the transgender community would also benefit from this education.
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
- identify two challenges that transgender individuals experience before and after transitioning
- discuss behavioral health concerns experienced by transgender individuals
- describe structural factors that impact health outcomes for trans individuals
- identify historical and current factors that contribute to the mistreatment of trans individuals, including scientific misinformation, discrimination, homophobia and transphobia
