Fresh Pharm...A Medication Update

This is a hybrid educational activity. This is a full day, interprofessional, CME accredited conference where we share all that is fresh and new in the realm of medications. We present exciting pharmacy topics and clinical practice guideline updates that are applicable to acute, ambulatory, and community practitioners that care for adults and children. Providers, nurses, pharmacists and more will benefit from an enriching day of education. 

Target Audience

This activity is designed for physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:

  • discuss indications, mechanisms of action, dosing, and side effects of new medications 
  • utilize medications to optimize care for patients experience vaping associated pulmonary injury and transfusion related acute lung injury 
  • identify innovative pharmacologic alternatives to statin therapy to reduce cardiovascular risk 
  • explore indications for buprenorphine in acute, ambulatory, and perioperative settings 
  • identify key updates to the 2024 AHA/ American Red Cross Guidelines for First Aid 
  • discuss clinical pearls for emergency medication management in pediatrics and pregnancy 
  • evaluate the stress ulcer prophylaxis guideline update, optimal timing for anticoagulation initiation post stroke, and recommended vaccines for prevention of various diseases 
  • discuss the role of SGLT-2 inhibitors in the cardiovascular-renal-metabolic space and identify patients who benefit from SGLT-2 inhibitors 
  • examine antimicrobial guideline updates for the treatment of bloodstream, necrotizing, and additional infections 
  • describe the appropriate indications for exogenous clotting factor concentrates in hemophilia and von Willebrand Disease

Attendance
Attendance will be recorded within three to four days of the conclusion of the activity.  Credit will display on your continuing education transcript once the activity evaluation is completed.
