This is a hybrid educational activity.  

Research demonstrates the importance of aiding the pediatric patient to transition to adult care. This presents many challenges for both the patient and the caregivers. It is essential that licensed staff understand the unique challenges that patients with illnesses, previously thought of as “childhood” illnesses, may face as they transition to adult care. Additionally, it is essential that licensed staff, both inpatient and outpatient, stay current on the rapidly changing interventions and treatments of chronic illness.

Learners should attend this activity to expand nursing knowledge and skills beyond current practice. ContinuingProfession Development is central to nurses’ lifelong learning and constitutes a vital aspect for keeping nurses’ knowledge andskills up to date.

Target Audience

This course is designed for all nurses, inpatient and outpatient.

Other learner groups such as nursing students and nursing instructors will also benefit from this course.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this activity, the participant should be able to: 

  • identify recommendations for treatment modalities for Heart Failure
  • identify two key areas of focus when transitioning patients from pediatric care to adult
  •  list two warning signs of early sepsis
  • identify two barriers to finding placement for the violent/aggressive patient
  • identify two obstetrical emergency seen on Med-Surg units
