Learning Objectives: 

At the conclusion of this session, the participant should be able to: 

  • Review pertinent anatomy and principles related to neck masses
  • Build a differential diagnosis list based on key differentiating features
  • Determine appropriate disposition for patients with new neck masses 
  • Identify patients at risk for alcohol use disorder
  • Determine appropriate inpatient vs outpatient disposition of patients at risk for alcohol withdrawal
  • Review comorbidities associated with alcohol use disorder
  • Define polycythemia, specifically considering relative and absolute cases
  • Consider the clinical features and sequalae
  • Formulate treatment plan for symptomatic polycythemia
  • Recognize the presenting signs and symptoms of tetanus infection/toxicity, and diagnose and manage those patients afflicted with the disease.
