  • review the microbiology and virulence factors of Group A streptococcus.
  • summarize the burden of GAS infection in the US and worldwide.
  • compare the trends in GAS disease before, during, and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • describe the epidemiology, diagnosis, and current recommendations for treatment of GAS pharyngitis.
  • develop strategies to trouble shoot and treat recurrent GAS pharyngitis.
  • review strategies to prevent GAS infection, including the development of GAS specific vaccinations.
