Series Overview

In this series learners will be instructed on how to start a very important conversation about what matters most to your patient. It’s not about what is the matters with your patient but rather what matters most to them. Every learner should be equipped with communication skills that help us have quality discussions with patients/families about future care. These skills can also be transferred to everyday communications with family and friends.

 

Target Audience

This course is designed for physicians, nurses and social workers. This education inapplicable for clinicians working with the adult population, including – nurses (case managers) in any setting, social workers, advance practitioners, respiratory therapist and physicians. Other learner groups such as medical assistants, community health associates, patient access representatives, chaplains would also benefit from this education.

Accreditation 

In support of improving patient care, Geisinger College of Health Sciences is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

 

 

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Geisinger College of Health Sciences is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Worker Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. Social workers completing this course receive 7.5 clinical continuing education credits.
