Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this session, the participant should be able to:
- Describe different scoring tools historically used to prognosticate patients with out of hospital cardiac arrest
- Discuss applying these scoring tools (OHCA, CAHP, TTM, MIRACLE-2) and neurological outcomes at hospital discharge and 6 month follow up
- Reflect on the clinical utility of these scoring tools in medical decision making and goals of care discussion
Three follow-up questions (in addition to objectives) that you want the group to be prepared to answer during your Journal Club. These will be sent prior to your presentation along with your article
- -What is the role of pupillary reflex in neuro-prognostication?
- -Is cerebral performance category following cardiac arrest a reliable predictor of neurological outcomes?
- -What is the association between early coronary angiography and neurological outcomes?
