Session Description:  This session focuses on key principles and practical strategies that support competency-based medical education. Participants will begin with microteaching, providing an opportunity to practice teaching skills and receive feedback in a supportive setting. The session will then introduce core concepts of competency-based medical education, followed by a discussion of learner assessment and how assessment practices can guide educational decisions. In the afternoon, participants will explore direct observation in practice, strategies for recognizing and diagnosing learning challenges, and approaches for developing individual learning plans. Throughout the day, participants will connect these concepts to their roles as medical educators and consider how to support learner growth through observation, feedback, assessment, and targeted educational planning.
