Session Description:

Teaching in Action is an interactive, practice-oriented workshop designed to help participants translate educational theory into effective teaching across a variety of settings. Throughout the day, participants will explore practical strategies for presenting information clearly, facilitating small groups, teaching in clinical and real-time environments, designing effective visual materials, and engaging learners in large-group settings. 
 
Rather than treating these topics as separate teaching skills, the workshop will emphasize the principles that connect them. Participants will experience learning strategies such as retrieval practice, elaboration, concrete examples, formative assessment, dual coding, and active participation while examining how these approaches can be incorporated into their own teaching.
 
The day will also prepare participants for their upcoming seven-minute micro-teaching presentations by giving them opportunities to practice communication techniques, analyze instructional choices, improve slide design, and select engagement strategies that align with their learners, objectives, and teaching context.
