Objectives:

  1. Review commonly used potent opioids for acute and chronic pain.
  2. Prescribe opioids comfortably using NCCN guidelines.
  3. Review how to covert opioids from IV, SQ, IM forms to oral forms as patients leave the hospital.
  4. Discuss how to rotate opioids from one potent drug to another using equianalgesic chart(s).
  5. Practice calculating drug doses using case-based examples.
  6. Prescribe opioids safely for acute and chronic pain; assess risks and benefits in clinical outpatient settings.
