Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this session, the participant should be able to:  

• Review medications and efforts utilized to decrease postoperative nausea and vomiting. (PONV).
• Focus in on the use of propofol to lower incidence of PONV.
• Explore different administration techniques of propofol during anesthesia to prevent PONV.
• Compare and contrast sub hypnotic propofol boluses and intra operative propofol infusions to determine if one is more effective than the other in preventing PONV.
• Utilize a propofol infusion for PONV prevention, is there a specific rate that is most effective in reducing PONV.
