Steven Taff, PhD, OTR/L, FNAP, FAOTA holds the position of Assistant Dean of Faculty Leadership Development, Director of the Teaching Scholars Program, and Professor of Occupational Therapy and Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine. As a seasoned educator and occupational therapist, he brings a wealth of leadership experience to health professions education. His background spans clinical practice, program management, and higher education, with notable expertise in curriculum development, instructional methods, and faculty development. Dr. Taff currently plays vital roles in the School of Medicine's Office of Faculty Promotions and Career Development, as well as the Academy of Educators, where he actively contributes to initiatives aimed at enhancing teaching excellence and educational improvement.
Target Audience
This activity is designed for physicians, advanced practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, psychologists and social workers. Other learner groups, such as. residents, fellows, medical students, non-clinician educators, GME program administrators and other education staff would also benefit from this education.

- Identify key elements and uses of a teaching philosophy statement in medical education.
- Explore personal beliefs about how students/trainees learn and priorities for teaching.
- Apply new learning to begin drafting a personal teaching philosophy statement.
