Elevating Simulation: Techniques and Best Practices
Enduring - This is a virtual, asynchronous educational session that is part of the Center for Faculty and Professional Development’s Foundations in Medical Education series.
Foundations in Medical Education offers participants an opportunity to attend a live, virtual one-hour session that focuses on one of following four foundational topics in medical education: learning theory, clinical teaching, classroom teaching, and assessment and evaluation.
Target Audience
This activity is designed for residents and fellows PDs, APDs, faculty and coordinators, medical students, clerkship directors and coordinators, clinical staff, advanced practitioners, CE activity directors, faculty and organizers.
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
- Identify the most appropriate method of simulation for their learners
- Describe the learning theories associated with simulation
- Compare various learning theories to “traditional” teaching methods
- Explain the importance of each learning theory in medical simulation
- Discuss best practices for simulation
