Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this session, the participant should be able to:
Remember the threat and magnitude of antimicrobial resistance: recall that overuse and misuse of antibiotics contribute to antimicrobial resistance, which is credited for more than 1,000,000 deaths annually.
Notice opportunities to educate people about antibiotic resistance: Recognize opportunities for low-cost educational interventions to reduce the demand for unnecessary antibiotics and thereby mitigate the risk of antibiotic resistance.
Beware of how needless antibiotic prescriptions can erode trust in a health system: more educated patients deemed clinicians who prescribed unnecessary antibiotics less trustworthy.
