• Select initial patient settings based on mechanical ventilation protocol
• Associate techniques to adjust settings to maintain optimal settings for the patient clinical status
• Discuss optimization of oxygenation and ventilation status in patient
• Review unit plan for spontaneous breathing trails
• Record mechanical ventilation settings, measurements, alarms in patient EMR 
• Examine APRV mode of ventilation
