At the conclusion of this session, the participant should be able to: 

• Identify the cardinal features of decompensated cirrhosis and recognize the clinical significance of key decompensation events.​
• Describe the pathophysiology of portal hypertension and its role in driving key decompensation events.​
• Plan an evidence-based approach to the diagnosis and management of acute complications of cirrhosis. ​
• Recognize common inpatient pitfalls in cirrhosis care and implement strategies to prevent iatrogenic harm.​
• Identify inpatient triggers and clinical thresholds that warrant transfer to a transplant center
